Speed Oiling

Have you heard of Speed Oiling? It’s based on the concept of Speed Dating, but there are no awkward moments!

I must admit that first I completely balked at the idea. Of course, I’d never seen it done in person, but it sounded too trendy. My preference is to buck trends, but the more I considered it, I thought this could engage people who normally would not come to a lecture-style class. The best part was that seven of my volunteers had never taught a class before, but it completely boosted their confidence to learn and teach. A win-win for everyone!

We had 12 volunteers. One person acted as the moderator, who gave instructions, coordinated the flow of traffic around the room, and kept track of time. The 11 others were responsible for preparing three minutes worth of information about a topic and repeated it for every three-minute session. Our table topics were three singles (Peppermint, Lavender, and Frankincense), five blends (Thieves, Purification, and PanAway), Seed to Seal, How to Enroll, and Essential Rewards. Your topics could be anything you want!

Guests move around the room from table-to-table in a progressive order until they’ve been to each table. They have three minutes to listen, experience an oil, and ask questions. We gave them a notecard with photos of the products to use to take notes as they progressed around the room.

Each table with oils had a bottle of oil to provide samples. Also, at some tables we added products to enhance the experience. The lavender table also had lavender lip balm. The Thieves table also had the hand sanitizer and pray and lozenges. The PanAway table also had a roller filament so guests could see how to easily put the filament on and take it off of the bottle.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but it tremendous success! I highly recommend it as a way to introduce people to the world of Young Living and then follow up with more in-depth and advanced classes.

Enjoy this short video of the evening!
